In 1798 New City was accepted as the County Seat in Rockland County. Most likely this was done because of its centralized location. New City is approximately 30 miles to the center of Manhattan. It is conveniently located both for travel and shopping. There is easy access to the Palisades Parkway and New York State Thruway. New City also has public transportation. New City boasts one of the biggest shopping malls in America, only a 10 minute drive. New City is near to the Village of Nyack which is a wonderful and interesting place with antique shops and fine restaurants.
The Clarkstown Central School District has an excellent reputation and is known nationally. Families come from many places looking for excellence in a school district like this one. The parks in the area have many activities to offer such as three swimming pools, baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts and so much more.
